GET TOGETHER- COME AS A LITTLE CHILD
Lu 18:16,17 But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.” Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”
This morning was my morning to keep three of our grandchildren Judah, Micah, and Eden. Most of the time we do a devotional before we get into playing hide and go seek, football, making sand castles, or some other fun activity.
Today our lesson came from 1Pe 5:8,9 ¶ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. (NKJV) We talked about what an adversary is. We talked about how the devil is an adversary to the Christian. We talked about what temptation is and how that the devil tries to get us to do bad things like lying and some other things. We talked about what it means to have brothers and sisters in Christ as well as who are our natural brothers and sisters.
As we were getting ready to close out our prayer time the Holy Spirit had me to ask Micah who is six years old had he been saved. He replied that he had not. My next question to him was did he want to get saved. He answered yes. We then prayed together. As we were praying, I looked over at Eden who is four years old. She was praying and confessing Jesus as her Lord and Savior just as Micah was.
The Lord has really put it on my heart to pray for our grandchildren. I am sure that some of you may be thinking that they are to young to know what they are doing. I praise God that they were given a spirit at the point of conception. I praise God that they have been taught at home about Jesus all of their young lives.
My thoughts are that the world sure does know that they are old enough. Their brother Judah shared with them about the day that he got saved in our sun room when he was somewhere close to their age. They don’t have a problem believing that Jesus died on the cross for their sins. They don’t have a problem believing that God raised Him from the dead. Yes, they will have much growth and maturing to do as Christians. They will have to be taught and nurtured in the faith. But praise God just as their brother was able to testify about the day that he got saved they will be able to testify about it as well. I wonder what the world would be like right now if more of our children made a commitment to Jesus Christ.
Perhaps you are reading this today and you have made a commitment to Jesus Christ. You may have made it when you were young and have somehow drifted out of His will for your life and are not currently serving Him. He is calling you today to come back. You are His child and He is ready to help you to once again be on the path that He desires for you to be on.
And I am sure that there are many of you that you made a commitment at a young age and the Lord has kept you on the path of a loving relationship with Him. It is a relationship where you have served God and you have also served others to bring glory to His Name. Halleluiah! We praise Him for that!
On the other hand, perhaps, you are up there in years and you think that you have committed too many sins, and, or that your sins are too bad to be forgiven of by God. He wants you to come to Him with child like faith just as our grandchildren did. He is ready to forgive you. He is ready to give you eternal life. Whoever you are and no matter what you have done let today be the day that you repent of your sins and place your faith as a little child and be born again. Put your faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and he will save you just as He did Eden and Micah this morning: Ro 5:8,9 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” And for those of us who have been forgiven may God use us to see that others come into His Kingdom during these very challenging times.
Let Us Pray
Lord Jesus we thank You that You came to seek and save that which is lost. Today we thank You for that enabling grace that allows us to come to You as little children. We pray that all that read this who have not come to You as a little child will come even today. May today be the Day of Salvation in each of their lives. For those of us who have help us to share this Good News to a lost and chaotic world that for the most part seems to be seeking peace in all of the wrong places, in all of the wrong ways.
In Jesus Name
Amen
We love you all. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you, and may the Lord grant you peace!
