GET TOGETHER- WHAT IF

GET TOGETHER- WHAT IF

Lu 12:31-34 “But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. “Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Well, it is football season here in the United States. And people here in the South and in other parts of the nation can get very passionate about their favorite team. Sometimes this is a struggle for me. As someone who played football from the 6th grade until I graduated from high school, I have always liked football. I coached football on different levels youth, Jr. High and was an assistant for two years on the high school level. One of the men that the Lord used to bring me to Christ by how he lived his life was Billy Coleman who was our high school coach at my Alma Mater Dora High School when we lived in the Dora- Sumiton area.
With all of that said I just wanted to share a few things that have been on my heart recently. As I was praying about what to write today, I felt like the Holy Spirit gave me the words “what if.” So here are some what ifs that are on my heart today and some scripture that I believe would help us to think about and to respond to what is God saying to us as Christians.
What if we had the passion for the Lord that we see in fans who will cheer without taking a break for three or four hours for their favorite football team? Can you imagine how Heaven would be moved on behalf of us, our churches, and our nation if we had that passion? Quoting Jesus again “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
What if we had to give an account to someone like these coaches must give an account, or an explanation to the interviewer asking them why they made this decision, or that decision? We do have to give an account. 2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. (NKJV) I know that we are saved by grace through faith. But how that we are rewarded in Heaven will depend upon how we have responded to being saved. At a critical time, such as this in the Kingdom I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to have a greater passion for anything than for Him, and for what He has called us to do in His Kingdom.
What if it grieved our hearts about the souls of the lost and that are without Christ as much as it does sometimes when our team loses a game? It should because Hell is the eternal abode for those without Christ. Re 20:15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.(NKJV)
What if we shared the Good News of Jesus Christ with others as freely as we let them know who our favorite team is? We are all told to share the Good News with others . Jesus said in Mt 10:32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.” Paul had this to say in Ro 1:16 ¶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

The Holy Spirit did not send this to condemn us. But I believe the Holy Spirit has put it on my heart to help us to be aware of the urgency in the Kingdom for such a time as this.
I will close with this. Just like a well-coached team is prepared to play the game from the Kickoff to the final whistle. What if we were that prepared for when the Lord returns? What if we were executing the Playbook that we have been given as we are called to do and saw us as his missionaries where we are?
The following words from Luke challenge me about my priorities and the seriousness of the times:
Lu 12:35-40″Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning;
“and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. “Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.
“And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. “But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

I pray for all of us that when we stand before the Lord that we won’t have to hear the what if’s running through our minds, but that we will hear our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ say well done my good and faithful servant.

LET US PRAY
Lord help us today to understand the seriousness of the times that we live in. lord anything that we have a greater passion for than You please remove it from our hearts. Help us to be passionate about what You are passionate about in this critical season in the Kingdom.
In Jesus Name
Amen

GET TOGETHER- WE FIGHT DIFFERENTLY

GET TOGETHER- WE FIGHT DIFFERENTLY

2Co 10:4,5 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ

There is no doubt that there has never been a time in the history of the United States where there has been greater hostility toward the true Christian faith than there is now. There are many voices that are under the influences of demonic powers that would love to silence Christians and remove any influence that we may have from the culture.
These voices come with various weapons such as intimidation, slander, character assassination in what amounts to as witchcraft. Then the enemy comes at us and tempts us to try to pick up those same ungodly weapons as we contend for the faith. But there is Good News for us who are believers and followers of Jesus Christ we don’t have to use those weapons! Those weapons are carnal. Isn’t it wonderful that the early church didn’t have to use those weapons against Saul of Tarsus? He became the Apostle Paul and God used him in a mighty way, and is still using him today. God loves to turn His enemies into friends.
We have a mighty weapon in prayer. The Bible tells us in Jas 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
(NKJV). Start praying for those corporate leaders that want to shut down the truth of the Gospel. Start praying for those political leaders who push and promote ungodly agendas.
We have a mighty weapon in fasting. Jesus taught that mighty things can happen through fasting : Mt 17:21 “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
We have a mighty weapon in praise. It worked for Paul and Silas Ac 16:25,26 ¶ But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.
We have a mighty weapon in love. Those who want to shut down the truth need to know what true love is and not the counterfeit. Lu 6:27,28 ¶ “But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, “bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.
It worked for the early church. Romans who hated Christians were converted. As I mentioned earlier a religious Pharisee named Saul of Tarsus became the Apostle Paul. Can you imagine the potential in some of the enemies of the church in our country to be faithful people of God with the commitment that they have to the false gods of this world. Our Lord can do it. Don’t let the devil draw you into fighting a spiritual war with carnal weapons. the Holy Spirit will guide us in how to use the spiritual weapons that God has given us.
LET US PRAY
Lord Jesus we know that we are in a battle. But we know that we don’t battle against flesh and blood. We thank You that You have given us authority to trample on scorpions, and snakes and all the works of the enemy. Help us to walk in victory in order not to beat people, but to win people to the cross of Jesus Christ.
In Jesus Name
Amen

GET TOGETHER- PRAYING BEATS GRIPING

GET TOGETHER- PRAYING BEATS GRIPING
Php 2:14 ¶ Do all things without complaining and disputing, (NKJV)

Last week we had a situation where we were having to have the floor replaced in one of our bathrooms. An old hot water heater had leaked causing some damage in that part of our house. One of the things that we were going to have to do before Serv Pro came was to get the hot water heater unhooked and moved out. By the way I greatly appreciate the work that Serve Pro does and the way that they make sure that their customers are satisfied by the way that they are performing the job that they are doing.
When we found out that we were going to have to have the hot water heater taken out before they came the next day, we realized that we would have to take it out ourselves. Well plumbing, electrical work, and mechanical work are not my strong points.
I began to silently gripe about it. We have a busy schedule from now until Mid-October and I was thinking why we couldn’t we wait until then to do that. At that point the Holy Spirit paraphrased this verse to me “do all things without griping and complaining. I also was reminded of another verse Col 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, (NKJV). I sure didn’t want to be griping to the Lord about this. I repented and then began to pray a verse that has meant so much to me in my journey with the Lord for over 31 years: Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (NKJV)
J.J. watched a video on how to do it and we called our good friend Jeff Stidham and he told which valve would turn off the gas. I know I am going to Heaven, but I wanted to be sure the way that I unhooked the gas was not going to expedite my getting there. That isn’t the way that I am wanting to go.
Well, we got the hot water heater out and we are looking forward to it getting reinstalled soon. What if we hadn’t prayed? What if I had just kept on griping in my spirit. Who knows? Yesterday I caught myself griping about something else. The Holy Spirit reminded me that just as He had helped me to disconnect the water heater and the propane line going into it that He would help me with that matter.
The King James Version uses the word murmuring in place of complaining. It comes from the Greek term goggusmos, gong-goos-mos’. It means grumbling, grudging, murmuring. In the English language murmuring means a subdued or private expression of discontent or dissatisfaction. That was what I was doing under my breath.
The Greek term for disputing is dialogismos, dee-al-og-is-mos’ heer is how Strong’s renders it: from 1260; discussion, i.e. (internal) consideration (by implication, purpose), or (external) debate:–dispute, doubtful(-ing), imagination, reasoning, thought. When I look at that I am so thankful that the Holy Spirit restrained me from getting into an external debate with J.J. about us doing that at that time.
There have been some times today that I have almost stepped over into griping about some things even as I was working on this. The Holy Spirit reminds me of some things when I get headed in that direction. He is letting me live and be in good health at seventy-two years of age. He lets someone that was a gross sinner such as I was serve Him today. There are people in Afghanistan, and in other parts of the world that would see the minor nuisances that we have as a great blessing. I have been to Guatemala and other countries where people don’t have hot water, or clean water. Yesterday me and another brother in Christ at this point could still pray publicly in a restaurant where we were eating. There are places in the world where that would land you in prison.
Jesus told us in Mt 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (NKJV) He wants our light to shine in the home. He wants our light to shine at school, work, the ballgame. Wherever we are He wants our light to shine. I am preaching hard to Preston right now. If I am griping my light is not shining. But if we will turn that griping into praying then our lights will shine in a world that has so much darkness in it. And by the way as I said earlier someone else is going to reconnect that water heater. Hallelujah!

Let Us Pray
Lord, we thank You that through the Holy Spirit that you chasten those that You love. We live at a time that we could and can find something to constantly complain about. But Lord, we thank You that You have given us a better way than murmuring. We thank you that we have access to Your throne at anytime and anywhere. Help us not to gripe, but to take it to you in prayer.
In Jesus Name
Amen

GET TOGETHER- COMMITTED OR DECOMITTED

GET TOGETHER- COMMITTED OR DECOMITTED

Mt 6:19 ¶ “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;

20 “but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

I don’t read articles about college athletes supposedly committing to a particular school and then changing their mind. The term “decommitted is often used when this happens. I realize that some of these young people may not realize what commitment is. Here is a good definition of commitment:  “feeling dedication and loyalty to a cause, activity, or job; wholeheartedly dedicated.”   I have often said that there is no such thing as decommittting, because if I decommitt to something I really wasn’t committed in the first place.  Well, I am not writing this to enter a debate about college athletes, but I feel like the Holy Spirit would have me to write this for all of us to examine our own hearts concerning our commitment level to the cause of Jesus Christ and to the Kingdom of God.

Last Sunday our Pastor David Cantrell preached on everyone having a calling. That is so true. I believe that every person has a calling, and that God wants to use their gifts and talents in the church to advance the Kingdom of God upon the earth. After the message I shared with Pastor David that sometimes it appears that those who oppose the Kingdom of God and the cause of Christ may have a higher level of commitment and dedication that we do.

Our passage above is from Jesus Sermon on the Mount. Jesus without a doubt was the greatest Preacher to ever walk the face of the earth. He is the Incarnate Son of God and there has never been and never will be one like Him. He is the Alpha, and Omega, the Beginning, and the End.  With that said I have often wondered if He got many Amens while He was preaching the Sermon on the Mount.  And by the way I do Amen a good word. But on the other hand, there are times that the Holy Spirit is searching our hearts in such a way not to condemn us, but to bring us to the place of servanthood that God has called us to function in and we may be saying silently oh me.

We all must ask ourselves this question in this critical time in the Kingdom. Am I more focused on laying up treasures here on earth where moth, and rust destroy, or that can be stolen? Or am I more committed to laying up treasure in Heaven that neither moth, nor rust can destroy?

At a Christian retreat that I gave my heart to the Lord on the speaker brought up several points that can help us to find the answer to those questions. Where do I spend most of my time? Where do I spend most of my money? Those are good starters.

The last couple of months my Old Testament readings have been from the Minor Prophets as well as Isaiah, and Jeremiah. When I read the similarities between what was going on in the culture in Judah and Israel to what we see in our culture today it really concerns me. They came under the judgment of God and suffered very serious consequences.

My current New Testament readings are from the Gospel of John. In those readings I see a Savior that came to seek and to save that which was lost! I see a Savior that opens the eyes of the blind! I see a Savior that tells a woman at a well that although she has had five husbands and currently living with a man that she is not married to that she can have living water and a new life! I see a Savior who tells a woman who was caught in adultery that He does not condemn her, but to go and sin no more! I see a Savior who raises the dead! I see a Savior who models commitment! I see a Savior willing to die on the cross for the vilest sinner! I see a Savior who was raised from the dead! I see Savior who fills people with the Holy Spirit so that we can serve Him with great joy and expectancy!

I see a Savior that I want to be more committed to than my favorite football team! I see a Savior that I believe can turn this country and the world from darkness to light from the power of Satan to the Kingdom of God!  Where are you storing up treasure today?  Are you living out the commitment that you made to Jesus Christ the day that you were saved?  I must ask myself these questions as well. Am I as committed as Peter, Paul, Mary Magdalen, and those early followers of Jesus Christ?   the Apostle John wrote these words to the church at Laodicea : Re 3:14 -16¶ “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. “So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

May we grow in our commitment level in such a way that one day we will hear the Master say “well done my good and faithful servant. This is not working your way into Heaven, but it is a committed response to the One who paid the price for you and I to go to Heaven.

            Let Us Pray

Lord forgive us when our commitment level has not been at a level that will advance Your Kingdom upon the earth. Today impart to us such a level of commitment that we can be used to take the Gospel to a world that needs you so much. Lord we know that if we don’t and you should tarry, that the culture that our children and grandchildren will grow up in depends upon it.

In Jesus Name

Amen

GET TOGETHER- ONLY HE GETS THE GLORY

GET TOGETHER- ONLY HE GETS THE GLORY
Isa 42:8 I am the LORD, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images. (NKJV)
I want to thank once again all of you who prayed for the Pastors Seminar last week in Guatemala. Without the prayers of faithful people like you this mission would not have accomplished what God desired to be accomplished. You encouraged us so much with your prayers and words of edification.
One thing that I do want to say is that only God can get the glory for what took place there. Only God can get the glory for the favor that we had in airports and the protection that He gave to us as we traveled the roads from Guatemala City to Eyes Wide Open Ministries in El Moral just outside of Chiquimula.
We sent back pictures as a means of encouragement to all of you who were praying for us. We also wanted to let people see how that God is using Daniel and Brandi McIntyre and the team of Eyes Wide Open Ministries to advance the Kingdom of God in Guatemala.
Without Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit we can do nothing. Jesus said it this way Joh 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” (NKJV)
When we sent out the prayer requests on Wednesday concerning the Pastors calling and saying that they were not coming because of the protests and the possibility of the roads being closed God answered your prayers and we had a great turnout and the Holy Spirit showed up in a wonderful way.
I am thankful that the church is a place that we can bring our deepest burdens to. But it is also a place where we can share the praise reports for the glory of God. When we give praise reports it is an encouragement to those who are praying in the church. We are told in Re 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”(NKJV) When we testify of how the Lord has worked in a wonderful way it is a prophetic encouragement that God will come through for others who labor in prayer.
A wise mentor of mine once said that the devil will do enough to discourage God’s people, so we need to encourage one another. With that said any post that I put up at any time, or picture that we posted of what God was doing in Guatemala, or anywhere else that the Lord allows us to minister the only one that can get the Glory is the Lord Jesus Christ.
I know where that I would be without the Lord Jesus Christ. As a former drug user, alcohol abuser, who lived a selfish life of gross sin. I would be dead and in Hell. May any post, or pictures of what God has done and is doing be an encouragement to those who witnessed to us when we were lost. May it be an encouragement to those such as our Pastors Mike and Pam Irons when we first got saved and the church that we were sent out from. Who early in our journey trusted us to teach Sunday School, or to work with youth. May it encourage the three men who came to my house and witnessed to me one night when I was by myself doing drugs, drinking, listening to music and wallowing in self-pity. There are too many to name here that God has used in our lives. I could spend hours doing it and still leave someone out.
May those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior be drawn to the cross where He makes all things new. He loves to dress up what we have messed up.
May all of us do everything that we do heartily as unto the Lord and not unto men. But on the other Hand, may we share the Praise Reports of the great things that God has done and is doing! I think these words from the Apostle Paul sum up what I am trying to say here in Col 2:2 Paul writes “ that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ.”(NKJV)

Let Us Pray
Lord Jesus, we thank You that we can share the praise reports of the great things that You have done. May we always let people know that it is only through You that we can see great eternal things happen in our lives and in the lives of others. On the other hand, Lord, we thank You that You would allow us partner with You in advancing the Kingdom of God upon the earth.

AMEN!!
PS it was a great blessing to have Brother Bill Hubbell from Florence with me on the trip. It was a blessing as always to get to be with Daniel and Brandi McIntyre and their family. It was a blessing to see Brother Esau and Sister Sonia from El Moral. It was also a blessing to meet a committed servant in Kenny Southerland. It was also a big blessing to get that welcome home kiss from J.J. Saturday night!

It was also a big blessing to get that welcome home kiss from J.J. Saturday night!

In Jesus Name

GET TOGETHER- Faith and Wisdom

GET TOGETHER- Faith and Wisdom
Joh 7:1 ¶ After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for He did not want to walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him. (NKJV) Lu 8:23-25 But as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. But He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!”

I don’t know about you, but there have been times when the enemy has tried to convince me that my faith was lacking when there was something that God had given me wisdom about. Then on the other hand we can sometimes try to lean on our own understanding of how things look in the natural and not move out or exercise our faith.
The good news for us who serve in the Kingdom is that faith and wisdom are not in competition with each other. The Bible tells us in Pr 2:6,7 “For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly.” It also tells us in Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (NKJV)
Sometimes God call us to step out in faith and to maybe take some type of risk that we will know that it is only God that could have made it happen and only God can get the glory from it. At other times God gives us the wisdom of how to avoid a situation that might be very dangerous, or life threatening to us.
In the passage from John hatred for the Lord Jesus had really began to fester among the Pharisees and others in Judea. He knew that it was not His time. Surely, He could have called angels there to protect Him. But He exercised wisdom and stayed out of Judea until it was the appointed time.
In the passage from Luke, we see Him exercise His power over the winds and the stormy seas. He chastised the disciples about their lack of faith. So, we can see here that in this situation it is a time for the disciples to have faith in the Lord Jesus to calm the storm and to know that He would bring them through the storm. He asks them “where is your faith?”
This week I felt like the Holy Spirit gave me a picture that if I am on the bank and I see it lightning out on the water that He is going to give me the wisdom to stay there and to wait until the storm is over. Now an exception would be if there was some reason that I absolutely had to go out, or across that water for some reason. And then I would have to walk in faith that God would protect me from the storm until whatever had to be done was done. And the same would be true if I was out in the water and a storm came up. I would walk in faith that the Lord would take care of me.
Summing this up what I am trying to say is that from time to time as Christians we are called to take risks and we will have to walk in faith. On the other hand, as the Holy Spirit gave Jesus the wisdom to stay out of Judea until the appointed time. We can trust that the Holy Spirit will give us the wisdom to avoid dangerous situations. He may have us take a detour to avoid a life-threatening situation. Or there may be many other things that He gives us the wisdom to do, or not to do so that we can fulfill our destiny here upon the earth. So, for all of us today may we know that operating in faith is not lacking in wisdom. And that using wisdom is not a lack of faith.

Let Us Pray
Lord Jesus, we thank You that you impart faith to us to help us to see You do great and mighty things in Your Kingdom. We also are so thankful that You give us wisdom. We pray that we will walk so closely to You that we will hear the Holy Spirit guide us in using wisdom and exercising our faith.
In Jesus Name
Amen

GET TOGETHER- SPEAK TO THOSE DRY BONES

GET TOGETHER- SPEAK TO THOSE DRY BONES
Eze 37:1-4 The hand of the LORD came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the LORD and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed, they were very dry. And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord GOD, You know. “Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!

Over the past few months some of my brothers and sisters in Christ sent me the worship song Rattle by Elevation Worship. These past few days that song has really been going through my spirit. And as I was asking the Holy Spirit what to do today that song went through my spirit again. Last night we shared the passage from Eziekiel 37:1-10 with our group at Jesus Now Overcoming the Power of Sin and Addiction in your life. We also played the song right before J.J. read the passage and shared from it.

Ezekiel was a prophet in Mesopotamia that had been carried into Babylon during the Babylonian captivity under King Nebuchadnezzar after the fall of Jerusalem. All seemed hopeless for God’s people who had lived in Judah and had experienced the judgment of God upon a nation. But for God’s people there is always hope.

I believe as New Covenant believers in Jesus Christ that we can begin to speak to the dry bones and see life come again. I believe that we can speak to the dry bones and see our nation spared from judgment. I believe that we can speak to the dry bones and see hope come to the hopeless.

Dry bones can come in many forms. Dry bones can be in the lives of people that have allowed drugs, or other substance abuse rob them of walking in the plan that God has for their lives. Dry bones can be in the life of a man, or woman that is living in prison and in the natural there is no hope for any type of future. Dry bones can be the person that has bought into the lies of the culture and entered a lifestyle that is in opposition to the will of God.

Dry bones may be in churches that have grown cold and have forgotten the importance of corporate prayer. Dry bones can be in our churches where we got a little lethargic from the COVID situation. Dry bones can be in a nation, or culture that moves away from its Biblical foundation and roots. There are many ways that dry bones may exist all around us.

We might say that well we are not Ezekiel and you may not have the office gift of a prophet. But as children of God we can release life out of our mouths. Jesus said it like this: Mt 21:21 “So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done.” Speak to those dry bones! Command lethargy and apathy to leave in Jesus Name! Command addiction to leave in Jesus Name !

The Apostle Paul said it like this in 1Co 14:1-3 Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. Speak to that addict that God has a destiny for them. Speak to that dead church that God has an assignment for them. Speak to the dry bones of a nation that God has a better plan for a nation than any demonic human philosophy, or system.

This is what Ezekiel spoke to the dry bones : Eze 37:5 ‘Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.’ We speak breath into the dry bones around us, in our churches, and in our nation!
Eze 37:6 “I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the LORD.”‘” We speak that the church will breathe life to the hopeless and to those who believe that there is no hope!
Eze 37:7 -9 So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone. Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them. Also, He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.”‘” We declare and decree today that those who were baptized and have grown cold in their relationship with God will rise up and fulfill the commitment that they made when they put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to save them from their sins. We speak life today over the dead bones of Pharisees. We call forth that we will be people of mercy and grace who speak the truth in love!

I hear a little rattling! We are expecting a great Army of Holy Spirit filled believers to rise up and to advance the Kingdom of God upon the earth making disciples of all nations baptizing them in the Name of the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit! Eze 37:10 So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.

GET TOGETHER- Walking with God

GET TOGETHER- Walking with God
Ge 2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. Ge 3:21 ¶ Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them. NKJV
Last week I had two special blessings with our children. Both of them took place while I was walking. I love to walk. The first blessing was one day when I was walking our son Jake called me on the phone. We had a wonderful conversation. And he was doing the same thing that I was he was walking for some exercise.
The next evening our daughter Jessye called me and asked me if I would go walking with her. We had a wonderful conversation. I thought about what a great blessing it was to be able to walk and talk with our children. Then I thought about how much that God desires to get into intimate conversation with His children. At one time in the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve had perfect fellowship and intimacy with our Heavenly Father until they succumbed to temptation and sin broke that relationship.
God has created us to walk in intimate fellowship with Him. However, Adam’s sin polluted the human race and that fellowship needed to be restored. For Adam and Eve an animal was slain. The tunics of the animal now covered their nakedness. The Bible tells us in Heb 9:22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. (NKJV) The Greek term for remission here is aphesis, af’-es-is. It means release from bondage or imprisonment, forgiveness or pardon, of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty. In remission God forgives the sin and restores the broken relationship with the sinner.
This is a type and shadow of Jesus Christ death on the cross at Calvary. By repenting and putting our faith in His precious blood we can have a restored intimate relationship with Him. Paul says it like this in Eph 2:13,14 “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation.” So now we can walk with God and have intimate fellowship with Him. Just as it was a blessing for me to get to walk and talk with our son and daughter. God loves to walk, talk, and to listen to His sons and daughters.
Now that our relationship with God has been restored, He has a way that He wants us to walk. We are told in Eph 5:15 how that God wants us to walk “ See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise.” We are to walk carefully and diligently. The best way for us to do that is to spend time with God in prayer, in His word, and in fellowship with other Christians.
When we do that, we will have intimacy with Him that allows us to hear the small still voice of the Holy Spirit when He whispers things to us. When we walk with God like that He will be blessed just as I was blessed walking and talking with our children last week.
In the Book of Genesis we are told of two men who walked with God:
Ge 5:24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. Ge 6:9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. (NKJV)
We won’t be as famous as them. We don’t have the same assignments that they had specifically. But one thing we can do is that we can walk with God and have intimacy with Him forever and ever. The Apostle John said it like this :
Re 22:1-3 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.
LET US PRAY
Lord Jesus, we thank you that You have paid the price for us to have an intimate relationship with the Father. We thank You that we experience that intimacy through the Holy Spirit. Help us to be constantly aware that we can walk with You moment by moment both now and forever.
In Jesus Name
Amen

GET TOGETHER- MORE THAN CONQUERORS

GET TOGETHER- MORE THAN CONQUERORS
Ro 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.(NKJV)

I know that I have used this passage once already this week. But I feel like the Holy Spirit wanted to say more about it. So, I am going to walk in obedience. I never want to just sit here and think up something that doesn’t come from Him.
As Christians I know that we are to walk in humility. We are not to be prideful. We know that apart from him that we can do nothing. We know this and Jesus stressed it to us in Joh 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. (NKJV) On the other hand if we abide in Him, we can be used in His Kingdom to bear fruit.
This is where being more than a conqueror comes in. If you read the Bible, you can see that there were some very powerful nations that conquered other countries. The Assyrians conquered the Northern Kingdom of Israel. They were conquerors, but they were not more than conquerors.
They got conquered by the Babylonians.
The Babylonians also conquered the Southern Kingdom of Judah. They were conquerors, but they got conquered by the Persians. So, they were not more than conquerors. You can look throughout history, the Persians, Alexander the Great, the Romans and many others were conquerors, but their dynasties didn’t last and they were not more than conquerors.
To be more than a conqueror means that our opponent has been vanquished. We have gained a decisive victory. We have this victory because Jesus Christ gained this victory for us by His death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead. Every demonic force of hell was defeated at the Cross of Calvary Col 2:15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. (NKJV) Addiction was defeated. Shame was defeated. The accuser of the brethren, condemnation, and every one of Satan’s minions were defeated at Calvary’s cross. You and I can walk in victory over those forces of evil.
But as more than conquerors we do have to enforce the victory. We enforce the victory by having a faithful disciplined prayer life. For us as new covenant people I believe that we can stand on this principle from Le 26:8 to help us to walk in victory as more than conquerors over our spiritual enemies the demonic forces that under the control of Satan. . “Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.”
We enforce the victory through praise and worship. We enforce the victory by serving God in the calling that He has on our lives. We enforce the victory when we fellowship with other Christians. We enforce the victory through corporate worship.
As more than conquerors we also know that we will live forever. Jesus in His resurrection overcame death, hell and the grave. The Apostle Paul tells us in 1Co 15:55-58 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.(NKJV)
So today as a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ know that you are more than a conqueror. And if you are not a follower of Jesus Christ, take time now to surrender your life to Him and you can become more than a conqueror. And as more than conquerors we can rest and walk in this promise “Ro 8:38,39 “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (NKJV)

Let Us Pray

Lord Jesus, we thank You that You have made us more than conquerors. We pray today that every person who is reading this will begin to believe and walk in the fact that we are more than conquerors. Thank You for shedding Your Blood so that we can walk in victory over every scheme of the enemy. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to empower us. And thank You for showing us the love of the Father.
In Jesus Name
Amen

GET TOGETHER- The Blood That Redeems.

GET TOGETHER- The Blood That Redeems.

Col 1:13,14 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Last night as we were worshipping the Lord in song outside the fence at the Hamilton A@ I Correctional Facility the Holy Spirit changed what I was originally going to preach from. I heard Him whisper the above passage into my spirit. A prison can be a very dark place. I know that from hearing men share what it is like in there for close to thirty years. On the other I know that outside the walls of a prison there can be some very dark places as well. There are some people living outside a physical prison who are actually living in a spiritual prison all around us. We can look around and know that there is much darkness in our culture and in the world today.
Sometimes the devil would like to get us to believe that the darkness is going to overcome the light. But there is good news! For the born-again believer in Jesus Christ, we can walk confidently knowing that we have been delivered from the power of darkness. We certainly know that the darkness will try to intimidate us and discourage us. But through the Blood of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit we can walk in that deliverance from the power of darkness.
We can do this because God has done something for us that we could not do for ourselves. The Greek term for this is methistemi, meth-is’-tay-mee. It means a change of situation ,or place. God has changed those in Christ from a position of being condemned to hell and under the power of Satan to forgiven children of God who are no longer serving Satan, but serving the living God! I like the way this passage in Acts describes what takes place here:
Ac 26:18 ‘to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.'(NKJV)
We now are redeemed from the power that hell has had over our lives and forgiven for the sinful things that we have done. Our sin debt has been fully paid. I can still remember the day that I knew that I had been born again and my sins had been forgiven. Thank God for the Blood of Jesus Christ!
Last night there were some men inside that prison hanging on every word that our various speakers shared with them. Although they are still in a physical prison their spirits have been set free. On the other hand, I wonder how many people pass by that prison each day that although they are not in a physical prison with concertina wire around it and other tough things that go with prison life are actually living in a spiritual prison.
How about you? Have you been set free from the spiritual prison that living in sin keeps you locked up in? If you have what is your response to the Lord? Is it one of joyful servanthood? Or is it one of ingratitude and religious wandering? If you have been set free ask God to continually give you a fresh anointing and a fresh desire to be in His presence and to live for Him twenty-four hours a day seven days a week three hundred sixty-five days a year. You will never regret it. If you haven’t been set free let today be the day that you repent from your sin and begin a new life in Jesus Christ. His Blood is sufficient to save you from the vilest sins and make you a new creation in Christ Jesus.
Never forget that mine and your salvation came at a very high price. But Praise God that if we repent of our sins and put our faith in the shed Blood of Jesus Christ, we can freely receive the forgiveness of our sins. We can be light in a world that wants to make us think that the darkness is winning. Jesus said it this way “Mt 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Through the Blood of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit we can be that light that the world needs to see and know where that it comes from so badly.

Let Us Pray

Lord Jesus, we thank You that through your precious Blood that we have been granted new life. We pray that through the power of the Holy Spirit that You will enable us to share this Good News with others! May we tell the person that is living in darkness about Your precious life-giving Blood. May we desire more of the Holy Spirit’s power so that we can be that light in a world that needs You so badly.

In Jesus Name
Amen!
