Get Together – What Will They Leave There With?

Get Together – What Will They Leave There With?

Col 2:8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

Well, here is another one that I really didn’t want to write. I think that the Holy Spirit had me to share some of this in a message on T.V. a few weeks ago. I usually do one football one before football season starts each year. Most of you know that I have always enjoyed sports. I played football in high school. If they had kept adequate records in my day, I might still hold the record for most missed tackles in a season.
I also coached youth sports, Junior High football, and basketball. Our son was a coach. There are many lessons that I learned from playing sports that God has used to help me in my walk with Jesus Christ. On the other hand, I think that it can have too big of a place in our lives.
I guess that it has been a little over a month ago that when I was walking outside the Holy Spirit spoke very clear to me and He used the upcoming college football season to speak to me. This was the word that I heard “ I am not nearly as concerned about who is going to win the championships as I am what kind of worldview will those students on the campuses across the United States leave college with.”
These are questions that I have pondered since then. Will they leave there with a Biblical worldview about marriage? Will they leave there with a Biblical worldview about eternal life? Will they leave there with a Biblical worldview about creation and personhood?
Will they leave there with an atheistic worldview believing that the Bible is a book of myths and legends? Will they leave there with a humanistic worldview believing that men and women are in control of their own destiny? Will they leave there with a universalist worldview believing that all religions are just a different path to the same God?
So, with that said I am not writing this to tell you not to go to a football game. I am sure that I will watch some this fall as well. I realize that college can be a good place to prepare people to function in the assignments that God has for us in the culture.

I am thankful that the Lord allowed me to go to college and I saw Him work in my life in many ways during my academic career. I also have the blessing of being an Adjunct Professor and I love my students. I am so thankful that God has some Godly coaches and professors in key places in colleges. I am also thankful that I get to serve with some of them.
I believe that the Lord has put this on my heart to encourage all of us to pray for a Holy Spirit Awakening on college campuses across the United States and in other countries as well. What a blessing it is to hear as I did the other day someone say that their doctor prayed for them. What a blessing it is to see people that God has used to make life better profess their faith in Jesus Christ publicly. So, here is what I am asking you to do. Would you make a commitment to pray for an Awakening on these campuses.
Here is just an example you could use:
Monday – Pray for the colleges and Universities in your state.
Tuesday – Pray for the Colleges and Universities in the SEC
Wednesday -Pray for the Colleges and Universities in the Big Ten
Thursday- Pray for the Colleges and Universities in the Pac 12
Friday Pray- for the Colleges and Universities in the Ivy league
Saturday Pray- for the Colleges and Universities in the Big 12
Sunday Pray- for the Colleges and Universities that the Holy Spirit brings before you that we have left out. And for Christian colleges to remain faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Remember there are no rivals in the Kingdom. I believe that the Lord loves every student on these campuses. He loves every professor. He desires to save all. God created the ground that these campuses are on for His glory. “Thy Kingdom Come Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” As we pray let’s believe that God will do a work like it says in Isa 58:12 Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.

Let us Pray
Lord Jesus, we know that you love all people and desire to save all people. Today we pray for an Awakening on every college campus not just in the United States, but across the world. We pray that the Holy Spirit would begin to move on these campuses in a way that we cannot ask or imagine. For the students and professors that are walking faithfully with You give us the courage to remain faithful, to fulfill the assignments that you have given to us on these campuses. Lord please use this time to prepare the students for the assignments that You have for them later in life. For those that have never accepted Jesus Christ may they see the love of Jesus Christ in your followers. We know that You love them. We ask you Lord to bring them to the Cross of Jesus Christ. And may they know that their intelligence comes from You. And may they know that You can give them Godly wisdom. We pray these things in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.

In Jesus Name
Amen
Love You All
Your Friend/ Kinfolk
